John Lawton's Guestbook Entries for 1997

Hi, I'm Rolf from Stuttgart.
I am a Les Humphries Singers Fan and my record Collection is nearly complete.
If you need any additional Information of the LP's/ and John Lawton, contact me.

PS.: Did you know, that John is, too, featuring on some LP's from john Petersons Starliner (Germany,
Europa Records- singing for Example on 'Living next Door to Alice???) or that he was Member of the Pop Band "Sweet Mama"
having a little Hit in 1975 with the single"Sweet Mama & It's in the Sky" (Single by Teldec)?

hi john. glad to see you are still very active.
i recently picked up the new gunhill album. it was
very good, and without a doubt a diffrent path for
you, i also want to add that i also picked up the
sumo grip album which i felt was a extremly well
done album. it was long over do. i have been
following your carreer since the lucifer days.
i have written the uhas several times in quirering
on when the mind exploding album will be available
on cd. i feel this was a great album which never got
a fair chance. also can you tell me if there is any
video of live concerts from those lucifers days.
as well as any video of recent times would be nice
to have in my collection. anyway i hope someday i
have the chance to see you live. here in the chicago
area in the states. till then keep rockin there are
people out here who still care very much. i look
forward to hearing the next lucifers friend album.
thanks again. sincerly

interesting to see what other John Lawtons are doing on the web!

John Lawton <lawton@hydrogen.ucsc,edu>Santa Cruz, USA - Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 09:36:31
Saw Lawton with Uriah Heep back in 1978 at the old stadium in chicago. Heep opened up for Kiss beleive it or not. We were more impressed that we were seeing the great singer from Lucifer's Friend. Have'nt thought about him much over the years, but glad to see he's still rocking. i'm gonna have to look into some of these bands he's been in the past few years. The dude IS one of the best screamers i've ever heard. If you see this John, hope your doing OK!

Hello

Just a note to say I saw John and the band , last night , at the Rose and Crown in Kings Langley. As usual , another highly impressive show .More new songs added again !
Another Whitesnake number and Mustang Sally too.
It was a good show , you can always tell when John is enjoying himself , he really goes for the high notes !!
It was another 260 mile round journey but very worth it and I'll more than likely do the same next week !!

All the Best Dave.

I never would have thought I'd like another vocalist in Uriah Heep other than Byron, but I purchased "Innocent Victim" and LOVED it!!! I've since purchased "Firefly" and "Fallen Angel" and loved them, too. Lawton is GOD!!!

The best rock singer ever. Please give me some news as to what you are up to now. I have listened to the latest Lucifer's Friend album, I love it. You haven't lost. The new version of "Free me" is fantastic. I have also listened again to the song " Little Chalk Blue" on Roger Glover's "Butterfly Ball" album. Great! Please E-Mail me as to whether a new Lucifer's album is coming up. They are hard to get hold of in Canada. Best of luck. Cheers.

John WHO? John Entwhistle? John Lennon? Lucifer's Singers? Les Humphries Friend? I'm confused! Who's this side all about?

OK, enough clownin' around (on my part)... NICE! Now, let's get the show on the road - we've got work to do: pictures to post, discographies to write, and so forth. Announcing: the FULL and COMPLETE (AND first ever on the internet) Les Humphries Singers page! If John ever reads this, I'm deadmeat. :-)

Cheers!
Alex <UHEEP2@AOL.COM>Boston, USA - Tuesday, July 29, 1997 at 09:31:43
John is one of today's greatest vocalist. Hope too see more from him in the near future. I've been following him since Uriah Heep.
I have Ride the Sky video, Gunhill, and 2 Uriah Heep concerts on video, is there anything else available? Love all his music, keep on rockin'
When are the other Lucifer's Friend albums going to be released, can't wait. Where do the bonus tracks from the 1st cd come from? Sorry if I'm babbling. Do you have a mailing list, let me know. Thanks John Parisi.
John Parisi <@JParisi@SECA.Samsung.com>Toronto, Canada - Wednesday, July 23, 1997 at 21:38:58
I'm a big fan of John Lawton but I can't understand how anyone can think that his best moments was with Heep. I think that his singing was much better with both Lucifer's Friend and in the Les Humphries singers. I especiallay like the way he sings on Mind Exploding with L.F. I think that John's singing on the Heep albums sounds to much like Elvis. Don't get me wrong, I'm a hugh Heep fan and have all their albums and can't wait to get the re-mastered Lawton releases.
Stefan Bjornshog <stefan.bjornshog@mailbox.swipnet.se>Gothenburg, Sweden - Wednesday, July 23, 1997 at 02:16:26
I have been a Lawton fan since his days with Uriah Heep.
The first concert I ever saw was Kiss with Uriah Heep in
January of 1977, shortly before the release of "Firefly."
Lawton blew me away and I thought he was a great singer,
songwriter, and frontman. It saddened me to see him leave
Heep. Thanks for this great page. Now I can get caught
up on all the stuff I missed and the new stuff, too. Good
luck, John. We Heepsters will never forget you!

Great page!
Nobody wanted to see David gone from Heep but John was the only man that could fill those very big shoes.
I saw John with Heep many times every time he was great.
What a powerful voice!!

for sure... John Lawton really deserved a site like this very beautiful one. I'm sure that, knowing you guys, he will be in good hands... :)
Anyway, I've been a fan since I got my Uriah Heep albums with Lawton, and he did a hell of a good job there. Also with Asterix and Lucifer's Friend. "Little Chalk Blue" was one of the finest moments in the whole "Butterfly Ball", from Mr. Glover.
Please, keep this site going, and increasing ! I'll try to help as I can...
Cheers, Rod

Congratulations Vlad and Alex!!

I always thought we needed a page for John! Next to David,
Lawton was my next favorite vocalist with Heep. I love the
work he did with Lucifer's Friend and look forward to adding
to my collection of their music.
Keep up the great work and am looking forward to each
additional thing you guys put on here!!!!

Keep Heepin' and long live Lawton!!!!
