Uriah Heep

With all my respect to Lucifer's Friend, I'm sure that we all love John Lawton mainly for his brilliant work with Uriah Heep. No secret that a future of Uriah Heep was under a big doubdt after they'd asked their legendary (and still best for me!) singer David Byron. But voice of John Lawton was enough to rival with increadible voice of David. So Heep kept playing and result is 3 awesome studio albums, plus one live, plus few songs on b-sides and outtakes - see discography. Sadly, John's work with such a great musicians as Ken Hensley and Mick Box lasts too short - in 77 he was invited, in 79 he was fired, due to personal conflicts between him and Ken - I don't wan't to speculate with rumours until I'll get some solid source of imformation, but there was nothing musical in his quit from Heep.

You may learn more about this great band from, for example, The Official Uriah Heep page.
